Z33 House for Contemporary Art, September 28 - December 14, 2025
Taliswoman is Mounir Eddib's first institutional solo exhibition. The show is presented in Z33's modernist De Zij wing, historically one of the first large "white cube" gallery spaces in Flanders.
In Taliswoman, Eddib takes visitors on a journey through a layered landscape of memory and myth. The former mines of Genk appear not only as industrial relics, but as sites haunted by untold stories. He foregrounds the mystical, the domestic, and ritual, reimagining the power of feminized spaces and protective practices that are often passed down by women. Drawing on Amazigh and Sahrawi practices to imbue his art with talismanic properties, his work moves beyond representation, inviting you to navigate between presence and absence, between loss and what remains.
The main exhibition is divided into a brightly lit "aboveground" and a darkened "underground" room. In addition, extra space was kindly provided upstairs on the first floor. Enjoy the free entrance, and prepare yourself for being purified by the woody scent of al qatran.
